Messzelátó Egyesület has been actively pursuing the protection of natural resources, advocating ecotourism, promoting sustainable living, youth exchanges and voluntarism by spreading the spirit of taking an active and aware role in the civil society since its foundation in 1999. The key message of the organisation is to protect the environment and to preserve biodiversity for the future.

Past activities include the creation of eco-touristic maps, nature trails, education about biodiversity and the promotion of green lifestyle in several festivals and other events. To perform these activities they work together with local and international volunteers. They also promote biogardening by starting their own biofarm in the countryside.

In cooperation with the 350.org global movement they have launched a new climate change project. In 2009 a travelling exhibition was started to raise awareness of climate change issues and the importance of the UN Climate Talks where a new climate treaty will replace the Kyoto protocol in December 2009.
