When I was small, about eight or nine, I would spend many happy hours leafing through my school’s extensive collection of National Geographic magazines, captivated. I didn’t read the articles: they were too long. Instead, I gazed at the photographs and read the captions, transported to amazing places a world away from my English Midlands boarding school. It gave me a lifelong appreciation of photography and a desire to see for myself the countries that had come so vividly to life in those pages. Since then I've travelled a fair bit and been learning photography as I go.

Now, many years later, I find myself living on the other side of the world in what, some will tell you, is the world’s most beautiful country — New Zealand. These days I write and take photographs, unfortunately though, not for National Geographic, but I live in hope:) Needless to say, I take my camera everywhere I go. Maybe, one day, I’ll travel the ancient Silk Road to Samarkand, or lean over the great Wall of China, or paddle down the Amazon River before catching that flight to Scandinavia and setting up my tripod to capture the Northern Lights. If not there, somewhere else . . .

Thanks for looking at my photographs and for your kind comments.
