Dublin based Australian photographer and picture editor, Megan Young, is a creative and passionate visual story teller. Her photographic projects investigate and document the everyday, concentrating on the extraordinary element of the ordinary rather than simply extraordinary stories of life.

Megan has worked as a freelance photographer and as a picture editor since completing a photojournalism degree from QCA (Brisbane) and a masters of publication design from UTS (Sydney).

Whist travelling extensively throughout Australia, Europe, Asia and America she has also completed a number of personal documentary projects.

Megan is currently working as a picture editor with Ireland's premier sports photography agency and continues to document Irish life and Irish culture. In the past year Megan has developed a love for Lomography cameras and much of her recent photography demonstrated the use of "toy cameras".

Ten reasons why life and this list are too short…

Watched shafts of morning slight slowly illuminate the Terracotta Warriors in China, revealing them as a vast force of earth toned soldiers, from out of the shadows.

Slept the night in the mountains of Tibet on sweaty horse blankets after being thrown from my wooden saddle a top of a mountain pass.

Drank a coffee from of a paper cup next to the Tiber River just hours after landing in Rome, for my first ever visit to Europe, the adrenalin still pumping though my veins.

Rode in the back of a New York City yellow taxi, while the driver raced against the clock, to get me to La Guardia airport and break her own speed record.

Trudged though lush high pastured in the Alps of Spain with a butterfly net (Disney cartoon style) catching, tagging and recapturing butterflies for Earthwatch.

Scared a group of international hikers as I let a “cooee” rip over a painted vista in the desert of South West USA.

Pushed a bike designed for carrying your shopping along country lanes, far too long along a single walking track in the Killarney National Park, only to find I was lost and would have to push it all the way back.

Had shots pored into my mouth by a bucksome bar maid at the Coyote Ugly Bar during the night I stayed up, all night on the Las Vegan strip, without gambling a cent.

Completely spontaneously stumbled across a London showing some of the world’s best and most interesting photography exhibitions simultaneously.

Dried my sock and undies on the dashboard of my hire car as my love of Irish Cider developed with each new town and Irish Pub.
