Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Megan Wolfe moved to San Francisco, California in 2002 to pursue an education in visual art. In 2007, she graduated with a BFA in Fine Art from the Academy of Art University, and has since begun to teach.

In her latest body of work, Megan Wolfe examines issues of mortality, survival, and coexistence, by presenting subjects many people despise. In a tedious, and almost tender manner, she renders these “unwanted” subjects (such as pigeons, weeds, and rotting trees), in pencil, choosing to exploit the natural grainy quality of the paper's textured surface. This creates a “murky” or “dreamlike” appearance, reminiscent of film grain, and the result is a body of work that is both psychological and allegorical in nature.
