Sandbox [sand-boks]

n. a box or receptacle for holding sand, especially one large enough for great ideas, amazing tools, and creative play.

v. think, look, play, make, build, invent, experiment, connect, communicate, dream, imagine, etc.

 

It’s the 21st century. We live, work, and play with Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Google, the iPhone, Wii, and thousands of channels, all competing for our limited attention. We don’t just watch television and film or read newspapers and books. We experience media –combinations of the old and the new that take us to new places and create new ideas – previously impossible or unimagined. We look, listen, create and share with smart phones, tablets, PCs, wide screen TVs, theater screens, and in virtual worlds. It’s now a digitally interconnected world, and in the Media Sandbox at MSU’s College of Communication Arts and Sciences, we embrace it.
