A few years ago I found a creative outlet in photography. Kicking it all off was a Canon 450D DSLR, which changed my thinking from "happy snaps" to crafted images. A year or two after I upgraded to a 7D and started buying expensive lenses, but I found that although I was mastering the craft of photography, something was missing.

Not to say the craft has been unrewarding - learning exposure, composition, lighting, Photoshop and post-production have all been fascinating.

Towards the end of 2010 in an attempt to discover the missing element, I decided to ditch all the technology and go back to the sort of camera I used as a kid. A few false starts on eBay but before long I had a Canon AE1 - Manual focus, some auto functions but I was shooting pretty much manual, and self developing B&W and Colour films.

Soon after came the GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) and learning all about different cameras and films from 16mm up to large format.

I am still chasing the craft, now playing with wet printing and alternate processes, but I understand what I really need to learn - the art in photography.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my profile!
