I have just spent an extended breakfast when I shared in the subtle intrusions of a private eye working in Rio. I visited bars, clubs, store-rooms, hotel foyers, restaurants, slums, highrises and brothels and I travelled by bus, taxi and train observing, and occasionally meeting, strangers selling fruit, making phone calls and exchanging confidences. The sense of loneliness and expectation was, once or twice, broken by a frantic incident, a chase and even a fight that added a sense of urgency and heightened awareness during the quiet interludes. Apart from the atmosphere of great crime-fiction (which I regret I haven't read) there were elements of Goddard here - not quite knowing what was going on but feeling acutely that it was important and dangerous. A highlight was meeting up with a sinister group of hoodlums (and their moll) - distorted creatures of the city's underworld. I also got to know Rio de Janiero as well as I know London and it was thrilling and wonderful. My secret was to put the whole photostream on 'slideshow' and to sit back letting the coherent, visual movement happen as I tried to make sense of it all. I was enthralled by the stunning use of colour and pattern and by the mystery of it all. And it all came about because of a single comment on one of my own photographs. Thank you for introducing me to the most impressive photostream I have come across on Flickr - it was a very exciting breakfast, and a long one too. You have put an enormous amount of thought, effort and inspiration into constructing this gem of a stream.

The most beautiful and wonderous ability to see the world as a silhouette - and all the intense details that starkness brings with it. Such a delight each time you post, and seeing the things you bring to life.
