Originally from Edinburgh, Scotland I now live in south east Queensland, Australia, after 40 years in Hobart, Tasmania. I've been taking and making photographs seriously since the 1970s and enjoyed moderate success entering self processed black and white prints and colour slides in Australian National and International competitions before making the transition to digital in the late 90s. In the past few years I've been doing photopolymer etching (solar plate etching), often using my old film negatives. After many trials and errors I am now satisfied with my results using the classic double exposure method. I also joined a local printmaking group and have been quite successful in selling both photogravure and digital prints. I don't think I would ever go back to the old 'wet darkroom', but photogravure print making, in particular, provides a satisfying link back to the traditional 'silver based' photographic process.
