The Minneapolis College of Art and Design dates back to 1886, when a group of arts lovers decided the relatively new town of Minneapolis should be as culturally sophisticated as any other in the United States.

Mission

MCAD educates individuals to be professional artists and designers, effective leaders, and active citizens and, through this work and other activities, advances the cultural life of its community.
