I have taken photos of all kinds on and off for many years with a variety of cameras. I have, however, recently noticed a change in how I go about taking them - I look upon my pictures much more consciously as an attempt to catch and fix a moment in time and choose my motifs accordingly. It probably has to do with getting older and the feeling that time seems to be speeding up. Whilst appreciating a well-composed and well-lit conventional digital colour picture, I also like to experiment a little with the focus plane or black and white or macros. I have also got seriously into infrared photography - it is almost like a return to the old black and white films I used to develop myself many years ago but without the smell of chemicals. Infrared often involves very consciously thinking about the composition to maximise the effect.
