May-Day are an Indie three piece from the south coast of the United Kingdom, their music has hints of folk, blues, rock and pop, drawing influences from artists such as Paolo Nutini, Mumford and Sons, Ray Lamontagne and Jason Mraz to mention a few. The Band has gained success as an acoustic act and recently a full band.
Currently booking shows with touring acts and festivals as well as booking interviews, reviews and radio plugging to promote them the best they can. The Band have recently recorded and released their debut e.p and things have been going from strength to strength.
The May -Day three piece consists of Dan Day on vocals and piano, Marty on Guitar, backing vocals and Ali on the Cajon and percussion. They were formed in October of 2009 whilst Marty and Dan where at college together and wanted to work together on some original material. Then in spring of 2010 the band was joined by Marty’s brother Ali on the Cajon and percussion to add more dynamics to their music.
Marty and Dan have become a very good song writing partnership, they finished as semi-finalists in the UK song writing competition and performed at Portsmouth ‘All about the song competition’.
May-Day supported ‘Lupen Crook and the Murderbirds’ on part of their mini UK tour, Canadian band ‘Plants and Animals’, Aussie band ‘Philadelphia Grand Jury’ and performed on the same bill at a charity event as ’Adam Ant’. Also added to this impressive list of supports recently are, Benjamin Francis Leftwich, Ben Montague, Jazz Morely and Dave McPherson. The bands are also booked to perform at a selection of festivals this summer as well as headline shows across the south.
