I am a chemist who enjoys photography Many of the pictures I post are intended for family members who live at a distance; just to give them an idea of what is happening in SoCal.

  

If the pictures aren't of food or family, they are shots of the wildlife that I am lucky enough to see. Some are of birds that are either rare or unusual in Southern California. Others are pictures that I think are pretty good. Still others are ones that seem a bit quirky.

 

My camera of choice right now is a Canon 5D Mark III, closely followed but a much used (and abused) 7D. I use a Canon 600mm f/4.0 or Canon400mm f/5.6L series lens for bird and wildlife shots. A Canon 1.4x teleconverter comes in handy at times. My second most used lens is a Canon100mm f/2.8L series macro. If photos are taken where carrying weight or water are an issue, the waterproof Olympus Stylus comes out.
