Matthew Farrugia is a self-taught photographer from Cambridgeshire with over 15 years of experience, specializing in nature and wildlife photography (whilst also undertaking other types to include creative projects). His passion for capturing the beauty of the Britain’s natural world has been the driving force behind his hobby, and he currently uses the Canon R7 to bring his creative vision to life.

 

Matthew’s journey in photography began with a deep appreciation for nature with the need to capture the moment, and over the years, he has honed his skills & fieldcraft to become a knowledgeable individual.

 

In 2014, he had the privilege of exhibiting his work publicly at Nene Park Trust. His photography was later featured in Digital SLR Magazine in 2017, where he was published as a wildlife photographer for critique, receiving valuable feedback that further shaped his approach to photography.

 

In 2021 and 2022, Matthew took on the role of "apprentice" photographer for PhotoPlus Canon Magazine, a position that allowed him to work alongside industry professionals and refine his skills. Through this experience, he continued to grow and push the boundaries of his craft.

 

With every location he visits, Matthew strives to capture the intricate beauty of nature in ways that inspire and connect with audiences. His dedication to his art is evident in every photograph, and he remains passionate about sharing his love for wildlife and nature with others.

 

In addition to his photography, Matthew volunteers at a local country park, where he helps with habitat restoration and wildlife conservation efforts. His hands-on involvement in protecting and nurturing local wildlife not only supports the park’s initiatives but also provides him with a deeper connection to the subjects he photographs.
