I am a graphic designer and illustrator by profession, but I have always had a love for photography. I still remember how excited I was as a kid when my Dad bought our first SLR film camera. Together we read a simple book and learned how to use it. It was fun to focus the lens, and learn about depth of field and the principles of photography. I was amazed at the detail and how clear the pictures would print. As a high school graduation gift I received my first camera. A Minolta film SLR with a zoom lens...WOW!

I have owned many Minolta's since then with a wide variety of lenses. My last film camera purchase was a Nikon FM3a, what a great camera! I also own a Nikon D70 Digital SLR. This is a nice combination because both cameras can share some of the same lenses.

The photos I will be posting on Flickr represent my new and past work. I am taking my time and enjoying the uploading process. My older B&W photographs were shot using Tri-X 400 film. I am very happy with the quality I am achieving by scanning in my B&W negatives. It's fun to revisit these photos again.

The most exciting photos to me personally are of the birth of my daughter. My ongoing project is to have a series of B&W photos representing every month of her life. It's an amazing experience to watch her grow!

I plan to shoot mainly in a digital format now. I will also experiment with converting digital color to B&W. I'm inspired by the great color to B&W conversion shots I see on Flickr. The photographic tools in Photoshop keep getting better!

I hope you enjoy my photos :)
