In Short
Software geek. Serious hobbyist photographer, and part-time artist. Been into photography since I was about 13 years old (a lot longer ago than I care to think about). Into drawing since I first held a crayon.
Photography
Photography, for me, is a way to say "hey, look at this cool thing I noticed", or "here is what looks good to me". The cool thing could be:
- the way those colors look together
- the shapes that I see
- the textures that I notice
- the way the light plays across that space
- etc
I've been into photography for a long time. I left film when digital became affordable, but now have returned to film in a big way. I get as much of a charge out of the imaging qualities of film as I get out of using classic film equipment. I started back with 35mm, but moved to shooting medium format almost exclusively once I tried it. I've now moved up a size, and am shooting 4x5 and enjoying the technical challenges there. I do my own B&W development and scanning, but use a lab for my occasional color work.
I produce photography related videos on YouTube.
I've been trying to cut down on my gear collection. My current photography toys include:

I used to use Apple Aperture in my digital workflow, but now that it's not supported I've moved to Lightroom (dislike). I occasionally use Photoshop. I also use and enjoy Nik tools such as Color/Silver Efex Pro.
I scan my 120 negatives on a Canon 9000F flatbed using VueScan. I scan my 135 negatives on a PlusTek 35mm film scanner. I process the resulting TIFFs in Lightroom and Nik software tools.

Regarding Artwork I've Uploaded
I started drawing and painting again in 2007 and dropped back out around 2009. I did a lot of plein air sketching around Denver and Colorado.
