Hello. This is my flickr stream. It serves several purposes.
These days, it is the closest I come to writing a blog - so sometimes it contains photos of things I have just seen or am thinking about. It's a way of showing my world and my life to those who don't have the privilege of living in Manchester / London / Leipzig / wherever (delete as appropriate).
It is a place to put my photographic successes (and sometimes failures), as I aspire to greatness in photography and mostly achieve "quite good". So your feedback is welcome in helping me to improve and make the most of that rather fine camera I got for Christmas.
It's a place to share pictures of friends and family, though often access is limited only to actual friends and family. So, if you know me, go on and get yourself a free yahoo/flickr username, then ask me to give you access to all the lovely pictures of people I know. You won't see most of them otherwise. And it'll allow you to leave comments.
I love the fact that saying I am 'into' photography finally gives me a believable excuse for wandering a few paces behind everyone else, staring at the world around me rather than joining in the conversation. Sometimes I'm up for the conversation, too, but don't be surprised if I break off suddenly when something catches my eye.
Since I use Ubuntu (GNU/Linux), and flickr's new uploader doesn't work properly for me, I use an application called postr which is the best Linux flickr app I have had the pleasure to use.

Warning: Martin may make you think. Through Flickr (and beyond) he shares an often fascinating love of detail, unafraid to post images intended to inform and enlighten, taking photography beyond just things seen well. His work reflects this array of intentions in an ever fluctuating mix of the beautiful and the useful. His perpetual inquisitiveness makes him an ideal Flickrite, invariably examining shots and proffering opinions, providing useful feedback. An integral part of the Flickr experience.
