First art exhibition in Kauniainen Art Gallery in June 2022

Colorful paintings with an African atmosphere: 17 year-old Martha Cloete Parma now has her first exhibition at Grankulla Gallery. How does it feel? - I never thought it would have been possible to have my own exhibition at my age, so I am very grateful for this chance that I was given by the city of Grankulla. Martha started painting and drawing at a young age. Her own style has evolved over the years, and now is the first time that the general public gets to see her artwork. Martha's art is inspired by the African and Finnish nature. In the exhibition there are paintings in different styles from realistic to abstract, made with techniques from acrylic paints to pastel crayons. The centerpiece of the exhibition, the painting "Material Girl", is a colorful mix of different techniques. In the picture, a young child-like figure dances by a magical tree, and the sky is filled with paper lanterns. The young artist has his roots in Namibia, Africa but has grown up between Espoo and Milan, Italy. Here in Finland, she has gone to school in Swedish, first in Smedsby school and nowadays in Steiner high school in Helsinki. In the future, Martha wants to expand her studies to include photography and video.

Art feels like her thing. It is impressive to see what she has already created. We wish her a successful future!

The exhibition "African Alien" is open throughout June at the library's gallery, Thurmansplatsen 6.
