I have lived on the coast of Georgia for nearly 30 yrs. I retired in 2017 from the University of Georgia Marine Extension Service after 25.5 years. I have a BS degree in Environmental Science and MS degree Biology.
I worked as a marine educator/biologist in mostly shellfish research, and then as a boat captain teaching marine science and taking students to Wassaw, Little Tybee, and Ossabaw Islands near Savannah GA.
I am outside near the ocean and tidal creeks of coastal Georgia quite a bit so I take my camera with me whenever I can. Many of my shots are from the nearby barrier islands which are accessible only by boat.
There is alot of development going on around Savannah and along the coast so I try to take photos of places that may not be around very long to document the beauty in our area.
I use a Nikon F6 film camera with Kodak Ektar 100 usually, my favorite film. I use film because I love the look and it is challenging to me. Most of the film is developed and scanned by Dwaynes Photo in Parsons KS (www.dwaynesphoto.com/newsite2006/info-film-processing.html) or Bay Camera in Savannah Georgia.
I also use a Canon 60X digital capture for some of the bird shots. All pictures are identified as film or digital capture.
Note: Many of my photographs have been published in research publications, documents, reports, brochures, and posters created by Department of Natural Resources and the University of Georgia, Marine Extension Service.
I just recently learned how to develop my film (thanks to the awesome folks at Film Photography Project (filmphotographystore.com/collections/darkroom-supplies/pr...) . The kit has already paid for itself in savings. I then scan the negatives with a film scanner.
