Mark is an amazing photographer, that's obvious if you look at his stream. He isn't into gimmicks or trickery, he just finds the scenes and the light to show nature at it's finest. Even though I've never met him, I want to say something about him as a person instead. First of all he's ruining my perception of lawyers; Mark - did you not get the ABA memo about being a jerk.? Kidding aside, Mark is the rare case of an elite photographer who takes time to not just look at other people's photos but give both encouraging compliments and constructive criticism. He has taken the time to help me numerous times. What's more, when I read his profile and the things he says about nature, the wilderness and dawn, I feel like I'm reading my own thoughts and feelings - one of these days we'll go out for a shoot - or a shot (or both).

Mark takes the kind of photos I like... lots of sweeping wide angle vistas of gorgeous places. His ability to find the right composition in the right light on a consistent basis is amazing! Mark takes the kind of photos I like... lots of sweeping wide angle vistas of gorgeous places. His ability to find the right composition in the right light on a consistent basis is amazing! I know many of the places Mark photographs, and many of them take a lot of sweat and a lot of mosquito repellant to reach. I share a lot of the same passions... exploring, multi-day backpacking trips, the High Sierra, trout fishing, photography, and the amazing landscapes of the West. I like bold landscapes and bold colors, which is a trademark of Mark's photostream too. This photostream is an inspiration to see such beauty and aspire to come back with images this good. Shots like these come from the heart more so than the camera. Without having met Mark in person (yet!), I know I like the guy, despite him being a lawyer. Ha!
