I have no ambition to be an artist. I take photographs for my own amusement and as a kind of visual diary. I like to photograph mundane scenes that might be of historical interest in a few decades' time. This includes street scenes, landscapes, cityscapes and anything random that interests me. I've dabbled with airshow photography from time to time and, lately, wildlife.

 

I've been taking photographs for more than 30 years, having started in the late 80s with a Praktica MTL5B and Orwo film and a darkroom in the airing cupboard.

 

Moved on to various Pentax MEs in the 90s. Went digital in 2004 with a Fujifilm FinePix S602 Zoom and Olympus C5050Z, a Canon EOS 350D in 2006, a Nikon D80 in 2007 and a Nikon D90 in 2009. Finally traded in the D90 for a Nikon D7100 in 2016. Used a secondhand Sony RX100M2 as my carry-everywhere camera from 2017-23. Tried full frame with a Nikon D800 2020-23. Sold the D800 in August 2023. Replaced it with another D7100 in September 2023.
