Hi, my name is Mark, and I'm based in the Netherlands. I enjoy photographing a wide range of subjects, mostly people, birds (love shrikes), skies, urban and natural landscapes.

I guess I prefer my photos not to look overly polished. I like them to tell some kind of story. I don't mind leaving a bit of space around a bird, for example, if it helps create a stronger composition or sense of place. I also prefer portraits that feel natural, with skin that isn't overly smoothed or retouched.

Photography, especially bird photography, has taken me to places I probably wouldn't have visited otherwise. Along the way, I've met many people I would never have crossed paths with without this shared interest.
