I’m a Portland-based photojournalist with The Oregonian/OregonLive — I don’t just chase the light, I chase the dark, too. For nearly two decades I’ve covered President Joe Biden, Oregon governors and mayors, police and FBI leadership, Intel CEO Brian Krzanich, the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge occupation, countless protests, the Eagle Creek Fire and the year a million acres burned, homicides, and the elections and funerals that define power in this state. I’ve documented the homeless crisis at street level, watched firefighters work on lifeless bodies on the sidewalk, stood by as a mother tried to crawl into the grave with her son newly arrived from Africa, and spent long nights on ride-alongs with Portland police and Portland Fire & Rescue.
I’ve photographed COVID’s impact on Oregon, groundwater wars, Blazers games, the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, international airshows from the tarmac and the open rear door of a military cargo plane, wildfires from helicopters, Elton John under the lights, and a total solar eclipse over Oregon that ran on front pages across the country. My work has earned plenty of awards; this Flickr is where the big moments, quiet in-betweens, news, sports, aviation, wildfire, wildlife, and personal projects all land in one place.
