Lux Aeterna is a phrase from the latin requiem mass that means "Light Eternal". I've sung it many times in my years as a choral singer, but it has significance to me as a photographer because light is the very essence of photography. As an amateur photographer I'm always striving to make better use of the light I find in my photos, and now as a computer animation lighter I'm striving to create better light for each of my shots.

I've always been a very visual person, but never really got past the snapshot stage with film photography. It cost too much to experiment, and took too long to find out how the experiment came out. But I bought a nice point and shoot digital camera (Casio 3000EX) back in 2000 for my partner to use for eBay, and started to enjoy taking pictures with it myself.

Years ago when a stray cat gave birth to a litter of kittens in our living room, I got truly hooked taking pictures of the kittens as they grew, and posting them online each week to line up homes for all of them. But as they got older and faster, it became more and more frustrating trying to capture them in action given the long shutter lag on the Casio. After a bit of research and saving, I bought myself a Nikon D70. Since then I've upgraded to a D7000 and now shoot a D7200.
