I use a Nikon SLR camera and lenses...and travel when I can :-) This adventure kind of sort of started after seeing Ken Burns' PBS special on the national parks. There was one episode where the documentary discussed several people and their travels. One was QT Luong and how he would go to every national park with a large format camera, hiking to capture these wonderful images. One could say the idea started there!

I'm using this site to post my photos for the enjoyment of others. My goal is to upload more of my better or what most might think of as 'professional' photos, with a desire to learn more about photography on a daily basis. Most of my photos are from trips to national parks and monuments around the US and Canada. Others are from walks around the Austin area where I live. I also upload images under my name to Getty (www.gettyimages.com/search/photographer?photographer=Mark...) and 500px (500px.com/p/markcstevens) if you are interested in licensing images for commercial reasons.

Because of the image theft by PhotoElite (stock.adobe.com/uk/contributor/206913296/photoelite?load_...), I am removing the CC license I previous had for all my images. An example of the theft is located here (stock.adobe.com/uk/images/historic-entrance-and-rain-fed-...). I believe in the CC license, but this person, claiming my images as his, has ruined that. If you are a non-profit organization or the like and wish to use my images in such a capacity, please contact me privately. My original desire remains the same in sharing the images I capture that reflect the natural beauty I've experience traveling this planet.

And he sure seems to get around and see that world, too! I also appreciate how much of his photography he makes freely available un… Read more
