Since I was old enough to grab my parent's Kodak Instamatic, I've been fascinated with the magic of photography. After finishing a Communications degree in college I went to work for studios and ended up owning one for about eight years. I burned out on it after awhile.

Since then, I've worked as a professional trainer/college instructor while maintaining a freelance photography practice. In October of 2009 I decided to combine my passions for teaching and shooting and started www.SmarterPics.com .

I am now offering classes and workshop on digital photography in Lansing and individual tutoring either in person or long distance via phone or webcam. I have helped a wide range of photographers improve their understanding of digital photography. Whether it's mastering the basics of exposure and depth of field, knowing how and when to use the options on your camera, understanding principles of composition, controlling lighting in challenging situations, setting up professional portraits or shooting weddings. I have helped everyone from seasoned pros who own studios to the person who just bought their first point and shoot. The bottom line is removing the barriers that stop you from taking the great photos you want.
