My name is Maren Klemp and I am a fine art photographer living and working in Oslo, Norway. I studied fine art photography under professor Robert Meyer at Robert Meyer Kunsthøgskole in Oslo, and I have many years of experience in the field of fine art photography. My current interests in photography encompasses self portraiture, black and white photography in general and the use of vintage photographic equipment that infuses my images with a timeless dimension. I mostly use myself and my children as models, which makes my photography honest and true.

Maren Elize Klemp’s photography stands out as a fine example of portrait art, artistic sensitivity, along with a remarkable vision of a world she has created through her images. Haunting, mysterious, a visual storyteller in her own right, she takes us into a world of grey tones, shadows, playful lights, all set in a ghostly and ethereal world where her characters seem to be living in a fold of time, a time undefined by the very nature of her images. The portraits are of extraordinary quality and sharpness, and her subjects could not have been chosen any better; they are beautiful, somewhat nostalgic, intriguing, with a depth that pulls the observer into their world. To stare at their eyes is to be summoned....and there is no escape. Every single time I look at these exceptional and stunning images, I discover new details, new elements that draw me into them, into their world, and then wish for them to be a book, a book I could add to my library and open at leisure, to come and go into it as I pleased. Nothing had prepared me for Maren Elize’s world through images; I was instantly drawn to it, kept wondering and still wonder what it may mean, if there is a a continuation to this world and her art. I, for one, wish for more images, more stories, more mysteries from her.
