I have several passions --sailing, travel, ham radio and photography. My travel and photography website is www.photodxpeditions.com. Photography started for me as a teen when I worked for a portrait photographer on Fire Island doing darkroom chores for two summers. I've always liked to record special events and vacations. I had several Minolta cameras and lenses, but I wasn't really serious about it until more recently with the digital age and jumped in with a Nikon 4500 in 2003. Now with a spirit for adventure travel, I am promoting and marketing for several companies like Lindblad Expeditions/National Geographic, Silversea and the Prince Albert II, Classic Escapes, and others. I love marketing and organizing trips for like minded travelers who want to come home with the best shots possible. email marc@photodxpeditions.com.
My most favorite places for wilderness and wildlife are Arctic Norway (Svalbard), Antarctica, S. Georgia, Falklands, Galapagos and Africa.
My most important "at home project" is photographing and working with 'Tent City 3' a homeless camp in Seattle. I've made photo cards depicting their life which are sold by the churches that host and support them.
I now shoot with a Nikon D300 and lenses ranging from 50mm 1.4 to a 70-200mm 2.8 (sometimes with a TC 2.0 as well). My walk around lens in the Nikkor 18-200VR. I love my really solid Gitzo 2531 tripod and a great Really Right Stuff head, plate and angle bracket that round out my gear. When shooting long with the 70-200 + 2.0 TC I love my Wimberley 'Side Kick'.
