Photography has been a hobby for me for a while, but it was only with digital cameras that it really sparked.

While I had an interest for taking pictures when I was younger, the thought of having to break out money to get the film developed and then wait for a week just never made it feasible. Also I never really considered what pictures I would like to take.

Things really started when during my first year at Medschool I decided to give things another try and buy myself a digital camera of my own. I had previously owned probably the worst digital camera ever made, a fixed focus camera with a lever for "portrait" and "landscape" that was perfect at shooting perpetually unsharp images at any time and draining the battery after twenty minutes of shooting.

The camera I set out to buy, was aimed at being the cheapest camera to provide decent quality pictures for me to see whether I would really stick to the hobby. It turned out to be a Canon Powershot A 530, which indeed turned out great images.

In the years of use I learned to manually set every function on the camera and was able to take shots at all times of day and night. It has been a great camera for me and some of my best shots where taken with it.

Last year I took the logical next step and bought a Canon G10. I decided that this would be a camera that should be manually adjustable in a snap and be small enough for field trips along the coast. This camera served me well for half a year, before it was claimed by very slippery ice on the main street.

From there I switched to a Panasonic GF1 with a 20mm f1.7 lens and have shot for three years with the camera.

As of December 2012 I am shooting with a Fujifilm X-E1.
