I have been uploading photos to Flickr for nearly 10 years. I love photography as a hobby and enjoy sharing my interests with others all across the world. I have been actively taking photographs since 1989. Much of my collection are prints and uploading to Flickr required many, many hours of time and effort to scan, crop and save as digital files, then upload here. So deleting this account was not an easy decision. I can easily afford $50 per year for a Pro Account, however in the end, this decision is about principle and not money. Flickr is essentially extorting money from users in order to maintain the ability to have a large number of photos on the account. This is not okay. Nobody asked or demanded the free Terabyte of storage space, it was offered by Flickr. I will not pay $50 per year because a new company has decided to change the rules. After all, what's to stop SmugMug from selling Flickr to another company in 6 months or a year or 3 years and that new company demands $75 a year or $100 a year? For me it stops here.

Sharing photos here has brought so many unforeseen yet positive experiences. Many companies have contacted me over the years requesting to use them in magazine articles, books, maps, GPS devices, smartphone apps, websites and advertisements just to name a few. I never set out looking for that to happen. It just did and that's very cool.

Finally, thank you to everyone who has viewed my Flickr page over the years. I have tried to respond to every mail message you have sent me. I have tried to acknowledge every comment on my photos. When my phone app notifies me of an interaction on a photo, I have looked at every single one. Again, thank you to everyone who follows this account and enjoys the photos. It's awesome to know there are so many like-minded people around the world that share the same interest on a particular subject, be it fire apparatus, police vehicles, city scapes, nature, travel, sports, automobiles, aviation and everything else I like.
