Artist Statement
Drawing and Painting provides the world with the key to my world. A very public journey into my soul, revealing the essence of my creative spirit.
As far back as I dare to remember, I’ve enjoyed drawing and the creative process and now in my early 40’s I’m still just as enthralled with creating drawings and paintings which may be flights of fancy, connections in our world to objects or people in ways that are almost indescribable.
Creating a piece has more become a meditative journey, capturing resonating images, seemingly, from the universe itself. Objects and images of the mundane transformed into simple and sometimes highly complex, works of art.
I merely take credit for the strokes on whichever medium I work with. The inspiration I’ve only tapped into and pulled down into my consciousness from whatever sources or forces are at work.
My drawings, sometimes in its simplest form, seem to evoke responses from almost everyone who views them, from the critical to a real heartfelt connection.
I cannot answer for this, nor do I try.
I must put forth the images as they are presented to me. Each one has a message for me just as, much as, for the viewer. It just happens that way. I’m not naive, not every piece has a loud and clear message. But every piece does something for everyone. Within this fact alone, lies the authority for me to call myself an artist.
An artist therefore I am.
