What is Maneki Neko about? Why Maneki Neko?

Maneki Neko is a common Japanese lucky charm depicting a cat who is beckoning with an upright paw. It means literally ‘the cat who invites’. Traditionally based on their colors, they invite good luck, friendship and bring protection.

As I was living in Asia, I got inspired by the joy, fun and take-away from the seriousness of life that the Maneki Neko depict. They became my model for most of my paintings!
