Welcome to my profile page and thanks for taking the time to look!

Me as a person......

A Humanitarian

In its most general form, humanitarianism is an ethic of kindness, benevolence and sympathy extended universally and impartially to all human beings. Humanitarianism has been an evolving concept historically but universality is a common element in its evolution. No distinction is to be made in the face of suffering or abuse on grounds of gender, sexual orientation, tribe, caste, age, religion, or nationality.

Humanitarianism can also be described as the acceptance of every human being for plainly just being another human, ignoring and abolishing biased social views, prejudice, and racism in the process, if utilized individually as a practiced viewpoint, or mindset.

And as a Photographer:

Photography gives me a reason to travel and explore new places. Most people get the pleasure of memorable experiences when they travel somewhere new or go on holiday. I also get to put my creativity, and my love for photography, into action. I can’t help feeling that I get more out of my experiences because of this.

My photography is really an extension of my curiosity towards the world. I love to experience new places, people and cultures.

On a deeper level photography helps me see the beauty in the world. I feel awe when I see other people’s beautiful photos. It creates an awareness of just how big, diverse and beautiful our planet is. It inspires me by giving me ideas about places I’d like to travel to in the future, or photos that I’d like to take for myself.

Here a a few photography quotes that I particularly relate to, WITH THE FIRST BEING MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE!

Too often we lose sight of the fact that photography is about capturing light, if we have the ability to take control of that light then we grow exponentially as photographers. More often than not the image is not about lens speed, sensor size, MP's or AF, it is about the light.

"Photography for me is a passion, a mixture of science and art that creates magic. If a day goes by without photography, it’s incomplete"

"To me, photography is an art of observation. It's about finding something interesting in an ordinary place... I've found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them"

“There are no rules for good photographs, there are only good photographs.”

"Skill in photography is acquired by practice and not by purchase".

AND finally....

"A good photograph is knowing where to stand."

***********************************************************************

Art is:

""Visual art is an atavistic human need".

"Through art we bare our hearts.

And see who looks with eyes of the soul"

You will notice from from the amount of galleries that I have collated that I am extremely passionate not only about my photography but yours too!

I love the way Mandy sees the world. I can tell when I'm looking at one of her photos and that is a rare thing. She has a steady and delicate touch, even when she is producing HDR shots. Her composition is always enviable. I always look forward to seeing her work.

Unbelievable. Mandy's work and my late testimonial. The former, a wonderful thing, the later, inexcusable. Mandy has an incredible eye. An incredible lust to pull out the most from each image. You want to be where the photo was taken. You want to be in the photo. You feel the photo, but of course it leaves you wanting more. Rich depth landscapes of nature and of human devices; color that pushes the edge and pulls you in. Her technical expertise, her artistic creation, make magic. She does not follow the beaten path, or the fresh path of the new direction of photography, she is making her own path. My visits to Flickr are not complete without seeing recent work by Mandz. I always will look forward to seeing more. Tom, a.k.a. Orbiting Sol
