My first photographic love is for landscape and travel photography, and my photographic images are distinctive for their graphic simplicity and use of colour. I am particularly drawn to the landscape of the coast and have a great affection for islands large and small.
I have been photographing the British Channel Island of Alderney for over 20 years, building up an intimate knowledge of good locations as well as a deep understanding of the weather and light there. Finding subjects that suit the prevailing light is one of my key guiding principles.
As a tutor for Big Sky Photography Workshops, my emphasis in teaching is on the photographer’s vision – of developing visual perception in photographers – and I particularly enjoy tutoring beginners.
