Happy Monday from sunny Pete!!!

My father was a sports photographer with many newpapers and I have always admired him. I would like to follow his foot steps and enjoy photography as much as he did. My wonderful husband bought me my camera that I now shot with my D 70 nikon with a 70-300 MM lens. I also use my canon elph SD 1100 which is an awesome little camera and it travels well inside a pocket !! Never under estimate the power of an ELPH!!! I am also the proud owner of the new Nikon D 90, wow~~ what a great camera!! Thank you for stopping for a swim in my stream of photos~~ please stop again for a visit!!!

One of my cat photos will be appearing in the next LOL cats book due out this OCT. 2009. I was happy that that asked me and I felt honored!!!

It is also a nice tribute to our sweet Oreo, who was killed by a passing car 2 yrs ago!!! RIP ~sweet kitty, we miss you!!!

What Cats Do For Us

From Iams Pet Food Company

Warm our laps.

Give us someone to talk to.

Help reduce high blood pressure.

Bring the winter air inside, nestled in their coats.

Create a kindred feeling with other "cat people."

Turn common household objects like bottle caps into toys.

Make us more aware of birds.

Donate their services as alarm clocks.

Display daring acrobatic feats right in front of our eyes.

Contribute to living a longer life.

Make a window sill more beautiful.

Keep mice on the run.

Make us smile.

Inspire poets and playwrights.

Teach us how to land on our feet.

Let us indulge our desires to really spoil someone.

Make our homes warmer.

Remind us that life is mysterious.

Share with us the all-is-well experience of purring.

Instruct us in the luxurious art of stretching.

Show us how to lick our wounds and go on.

Give us cool cartoon characters.

Make even an old worn couch look beautiful.

Open our hearts.

It is possible to lead a cow upstairs...

but, not downstairs.

I am a good contact and will actually look at your photos and make real comments--if you can't do the same, then please don't waste my time. .

She has become a very good friend of mine on Flickr and is a very kind person with a lovely family, I am so pleased to have met you and look forward to your future photography. I have been very pleasantly surprised by the encouragement I have received from this wonderful photographer. I noticed her work before I ever received any comments from Mary Anne on my work. She has a wonderful eye! She can make the most everyday item into a work of art with her photography. She is a master of animal photography. She is a master of all nature photography and she surprises us all with her macro shots. Her love for her craft is very apparent. The camera is an extension of her eye, her hand, and her soul. And, it is a kind and generous soul for sure!

My mother, Mary Anne, has a true natural talent when it comes to photography. She is able to look into the lens and see a great shot no matter what the subject matter may be. Growing up she always had a camera in hand and was able to snap great photos of me throughout the different stages in life. These photos help preserve the memories that last a lifetime. Her action shots are great and give the sense that you are right there in the moment. Many individuals practice for years to try and become great photographers, Mary Anne has the talent instilled inside her that not many can match. She really has a true gift that she is able to share with the world. I take pleasure in looking through her albums that can put a smile on anyones face. You can't put a price on that but a picture is worth a thousand words! Enjoy the photos!

Mary Anne, my wife, has always amazed me with her artistic approach towards photography. When we met, almost 20 years ago, she was always ready and willing to document our travels and adventures with her Canon EOS rebel film camera. While our family grew so did Mary's camera equipment. Married with children the camera and diaper bags needed to be toted and I was her borrow. I was always tired but eager to see what the rays of captured light on emulsion would reveal. Looking back, thinking about the quality of photos that we were able to re-live on the pages of photo-albums I have taking for granted the quality of these images. Moving to the new camera medium was an adjustment. Our first digital camera we purchased was a HP c618. We loved not buying film and were used to the 24, or less, exposures that the 16mb card purchased offered none the less Mary kept clicking away. Looking through the albums switched to time alone on the computer to reflect on our pics. Digital camera technology kept moving forward and a Nikon CoolPic separated the time between the beginning of the digital experiment and Mary Anne’s current outfit. A Nikon D70 digital SLR, 35-70mm and 70-300mm lenses as the main outfit. A new Canon Elf Sure Shot SD1100 point and shoot rounds out the lineup. This little camera comes in handy when she needs to travel light. This D70 has offered Mary Anne to continue where she left off with film cameras. It has been a few years since she has even picked up a film camera. This has left her time to experiment with the digital medium and too share her talent with so many. Not mention such characters as Otis, Lexi and Pete our pets and part time models. She has not yet carried her craft to computer photo editing and this only proves that she is a very proficient photographer. All photographs that Mary has posted, so far, have not been touched up with any computer program. The way Mary Anne’s photographs have been received on Flickr.com only cemented what my opinion has always been. That the technical aspects of photography can be taught and photo composition can be practiced but truly gifted photographers, like elite athletes, have that something extra that makes the product of their craft stand out. Mary Anne is one of these artist and her image captures only prove this.
