Bought my first camera in January 09, can't stop using the damn thing, have become total camera geek, please send help.
I don't much like digital-photography-magazine-style photography, overdone HDR, endless macros of insects & flowers, overdone Lomography, or pool-dumping. I DO like Lee Friedlander, Saul Leiter, William Eggleston (perhaps above all), Richard Misrach, Gerhard Richter, Garry Winogrand, Jeff Wall and Ed Burtynsky. And a whole host of Flickr users too.
A word on contacts: I try to keep a manageable number of them. I've noticed that some people on here seem to add people as contacts without having any demonstrable interest in their photos - maybe because of the attention they hope to gain for their own instead. Rest assured if I add you as a contact, it's because I want to keep track of your work; obviously, I hope you'll want to check mine out too, but it's a bonus if you do. And if you add me as a contact without any demonstrable interest in /commonality with what I'm doing, it is less likely that I'll reciprocate: when I look at my contacts page, I don't want the work I'm genuinely interested in to be swamped by loads of work by people I've essentially got little in common with. It may sound harsh but I suspect from looking at others' profiles that I'm far from alone in this.
