The mission of Malashock Dance is to provide transformational experiences through the creation, performance, and teaching of dance that fire the imagination and celebrate the human spirit.

Following his extensive career in dance and theater, John Malashock founded the Malashock Dance Company in 1988. Based in San Diego, Malashock Dance has performed on both national and international stages, while continually performing at local venues and events.

Malashock Dance advances the art and experience of dance by creating original works that communicate, challenge, entertain, and encourage new forms of personal expression.

Currently in its 24th Season, Malashock Dance is an active contributor to the vibrancy of San Diego’s cultural life, serving residents of the San Diego region, visitors in search of cultural activities, and the dance community as a whole.

The Company’s impressive track record includes the creation of many new dance works, annual performances and workshops, participation in arts festivals, and collaborations with many other cultural organizations.

Complementing Malashock Dance's full performance schedule are the activities of The Malashock Dance School: a full range of dance classes for children, adults, pre-professional and professional dancers; and Education Outreach activities throughout San Diego.

Malashock Dance has also taken a leadership role in the creation of Dance Place San Diego housed in a spectacular historic building at the NTC Promenade in Point Loma's Liberty Station. It is the Company's home and serves the entire dance community of San Diego.
