Making Future Work by Making Future Work

Making Future Work (MFW) is a new initiative led by Broadway in Nottingham to commission four digital innovation research commissions across the East Midlands. The programme will run from February – June 2011 and is funded by Arts Council England, as part of wider investment in digital development to explore how digital media technologies are affecting the creation, distribution and consumption of the arts.

In December 2010 Broadway made an open call and invited artists, designers and organisations based in the East Midlands region to submit proposals in the areas of digital culture and emerging artistic practices that engage technology. The aim was to commission innovative research and projects that reflect the current concerns for practitioners working in the east midlands.

Broadway invited associate thinkers, who are highly regarded in this field to each develop a speculative text about the possibilities for four distinct areas of current practice. Applicants were encouraged to write their proposals in response to the below areas of focus:

Co creation / Online Space

Pervasive Gaming / Urban Screens

Re-imaging Redundant Systems

Live Cinema / 3D
