Obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts, majoring in Studio Arts from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada, Maha Al Sahhaf continues to explore her artistic skills and contemporary issues within her practice. She is inspired by notions that we cannot express freely in an Arab world today and is constantly challenged by life's journey to create works that express reality without any formalities. Her work tends to be humorous and whimsical, but discusses important and controversial issues within the Arab world. As a Bahraini artist, she is interested in exploring notions such as religion vs. interpretation, corruption and the media's role, politics and society, immigration and belongingness amongst many other topics. Maha is an emerging artist who continues to experiment with various mediums and subjects in her art and is currently based in Montreal, Canada.
