I enjoy photography amongst a number of other hobbies, and find I never have nearly enough time to devote to everything I'd like to do.

My Flickr photostream is shared by photos taken as an artistic statement in themselves, those taken as a record of my creative endeavours in other fields (such as painting or knitting), experiments with my camera (often recorded for future reference so I can apply (or avoid) techniques again later), and mementos of my travels close to home and further afield.

Photographically I find myself most drawn to close up views of objects that enable me to view them in ways I might otherwise miss. I'd also like to do more portrait photography, but most of my friends seem reluctant to have cameras pointed at them. I like to try my hand at a wide range of photographic subjects and techniques. Variety is, for me, very much the spice of life.

I occasionally like to write haiku to accompany my photos. Unfortunately these don't show up very well in my photostream as it doesn't preserve line breaks. If you see any photos in the stream with what seems to be a random collection of words underneath them, you may like to check them out more closely in case there's a haiku attached.
