Magic City Repairs is an ongoing, multi-city participatory art and construction project that invites neighbors, strangers, friends, family, adults and kids, to build stuff together out of recycled cardboard and colorful paper. We are excited about the moments when you can take the world into your own hands and change it to make it more like you would want it to be. This project attempts to make it possible for those moments to happen more frequently!

v.2.0:: Block Party!

You remember playing with building blocks right? Building forts? Dreaming about having an infinite number of giant blocks to build the tallest possible structures that you would actually be able to live in? Well, those are the same dreams that the Block Party comes out of. This year we had a spot in the middle of one of the busiest streets in Worcester, MA, which was shut down for an art fair... and we spent all day building things... and knocking them down!

v.1.0:: Magic City Repairs

So, can you imagine a room filled with mountains of paper, each sheet screen-printed with detailed architectural elements?

There will be some scissors and glue plus a cardboard landscape waiting to be built upon. Then there will be you, and lots of other people in a flurry of construction, conversation and mutual inspiration. It's kinda going to be like several hundred miniature barn raisings.

When it is over we will end up with lots and lots of paper scraps and a city that none of us could have individually imagined before.
