When it comes to photography I am an enthusiastic amateur.
I was given my first camera at around the age of ten. A 110mm jobby that had the viewfinder offset from the lens, meaning you had to aim slightly left of what you could see to get the photo you wanted. Not the best thing for a kid. My photos always had somebody cut off the right hand side and a great expanse of 'nothingness' on the left. I took that camera with me on a school trip to Belgium. The photos when they were developed were nothing short of shocking, lol.
A few years later I received my first 35mm camera and having got to grips with that, when it gave up the ghost I had a 35mm automatic zoom camera which has lasted me 12 years plus and taken some bloody good photos.
In July this year I joined the digital revolution when I bought an Olympus sp510 ultra zoom camera. Time to go beyond 'point and click' amateur and explore the finer points of proper photography.
I think I'm finally getting my 'eye in', learning to spot a potential photographic composition, get creative. I've hardly begun to push the capabilities of this new camera as of yet, but I'm enjoying getting out and about using it.
Any and all comments on my efforts are most welcome and are usually acknowledged with a reply. Please feel free to criticise as well as leave praise. It all helps me progress in the field of photography. If you see a photo that you believe I should delete, please let me know... I take no offence ;-)
Being on Flickr is proving to be very inspiring and I love leaving comments on other members photos and seeing my 'favourites' build up ;-)
