My love and excitement for food started when I was a kid. My dad, being an executive chef, kept me surrounded by the best of the best weather at the restaurant or at home for dinner. It seemed real food, not the stuff you buy out of boxes and just add water, was part of my normal life and it set a bit of a precedent. As time went on, food played a role as a source of income and source of delight.

I began to try odd and interesting dishes, use weird ingredients, and basically eat stuff most people would cringe at. You put it in front of me, and I would at least take a bite of it even if you told me exactly what part of the cow went in there. I find that these experiences made me into what I am today, I rarely say no to foods and love everything I eat.

So here we are today right? I spent some time watching shows on TV about cooking and frankly I felt it was time for a regular cook to just step in and show the regular people at home just what cooking is about. I live by a few basic guidelines that I’ve developed using my crack researching abilities (boredom) over the year and find that this works out well for the every day cook:

1. Use as close to real ingredients as possible.

2. Maintain a very clean working environment.

3. Your taste buds are very important and deserve quality.

4. I can’t afford all those gadgets, so do it as close to by hand as possible.

5. Ingredients are easy to get.

They are pretty basic but help provide quality food at a tolerable cost and I don’t have to go crazy trying to keep up with the Jones and their endless supply gadgets and specialty ordered ingredients. It’s that simple, I want to eat and I should eat better food so why not make it simple for me to cook it right?
