Some people are watchers. Their gift is to "get out of the way" and seem invisible while they go about seeing, really seeing, the world and it's inhabitants. We are drawn to these people and we endganger their privacy and their purpose but they always a word, usually a single word or picture, to say it all. madriguera, my friend from Espana, is one of those. I adopted her immediately after seeing one shot of beautful clay dishes shot with such care and intensity that I had to know more. Hers is the "spider on the wall" view, the "mouse in the pocket", the shadow at mid day who sees while others take siesta. Her work appears to be simple and direct but I find it to be deep and profound. Her portraits of "real" people are very moving and instructive and alive. Her inanimate objects aquire personality as well and I wish to probe deeper but then I meet a voice that says, "Take me as I am and don't think so hard." Gentle, quiet, colorful, deep, insightful, and serene, I recommend a journey through her photo stream for a kind reminder of our mortality and our universality. written for Sala de Luna Group
