What is amazing about photography is the family members' influence.
After reading many profiles in Flickr I realized that without the inhouse influence there would be less photographers in the world... Sounds profound! And that brings one question, what/who influenced the parents, grandparents, relatives, etc?
My story is not different... I'm a son, a grandson and nephew of photographers and was brought up seeing B&Ws hanging as if they were clothes and watching my dad setting toys on fire to create photographic especial effects and other stuff of the kind.
In the early 80's an uncle of mine asked me to translate Canon's AE1 manual he had just bought. So after completing my job I knew the fundamentals of photography and was ready to take my chances... I bought a fully manual camera - Nikon F2 and ended up taking photos in different kinds of events and developing them at home to make some money, though I never saw myself as a pro...
The sad part is... I graduated in veterinary medicine and had to sell my equipment to buy a car and stayed away from photography longer than I should.
Almost 2 decades after, digital photography boomed and I was really amazed, no more dark rooms and the possibility of checking your photo on the camera back immediately sounded great...
And now, Flickr... we can share our passion with people from all around the world in just a few minutes. Wow, unbelievable!
So here I am spending more time than I probably should, learning a lot from excellent photographers and feeling great to be a part in this community.
Digital Photography - my point of view
Well, I don't think that there must be an expensive equipment behind a good photo. If you use the camera finder in Flickr Explore you'll see that many many photos were taken with under US$300 cameras and the result is great.
IMO the main goal of digital photography is to prevent the image from blowing, so if you don't like reading manuals, just go to the "Exposure Compensation" page and see how it works... After mastering it in your camera, you surely will take better photos, no matter how much the camera cost.
What I expect from Flickr
Well, basically I'm here to have fun, make new friends and see small fragments of their worlds that would be impossible without Flickr. I have spent great time seeing beautiful photos, commenting, being commented and I have known really nice people to whom I talk in an everyday basis . As long as it stays that way, I'll be here.
My hobbies... I love movies, progressive rock and digital photography, of course!
Thanks for reading it!

I have known Marco for a good while now, but when I met him on Flickr I was struck my his politeness in his return comments. His warm & sometimes funny personality comes through in his comments. We have literally had conversations in his photo's comment boxes. He takes the time to answer my many questions on his photo's & I've enjoyed viewing his country & the places he has visited on his photostream. He has given me some wonderful idea's to try & that that is what Flickr should be about learning & sharing & Marco is a wonderful Flickr friend to have. I had to edit this because through the time I have come to know Marco on flickr...he is always patient with me when I am learning new things or ask for his help..he is always there..further more..I have seen his photography grow immensely in the time that I first wrote this testimonial..His landscapes I call Masterpieces simply because you can tell great care & thought went into each & every shot...The color is outstanding & a cruise through his stream will leave you with a desire to visit Rio...book your tickets now..
