I am purely an amateur photographer and I've only had experience with compact (p&s) cameras. I will continue to use them until I feel ready to own a DSLR one day.

I recently purchased myself a Canon SX120 IS, mainly for it's full manual controls and also because I was on a tight budget.

I plan on doing as much experimentation as possible and not every photo I upload will be a piece of art.

I'm a fan of macro photography, extreme contrast (or vivid colours) and playing with the DOF although that might change as I'm learning new things all the time.

I don't like editing my photos as it takes away from the natural effort I put in although I will occasionally edit some for fun.
