Born and raised in small-town Germany, I set out to explore the world in my early twenties - with camera in hand. Life has taken me around the planet, affording me the opportunity to live, study, and work in some of the greatest cities and places this world has to offer.

I spent the past eight years living on Costa Rica's Pacific Coast - in a town of about 600 souls, incidentally, smaller than the town I grew up in and certainly somewhat smaller than my former hometown of New York City. I don't think it matters where else this life takes me, at heart, I will always remain a true New Yorker - helpful, stand-offish, friendly, rude, direct, - all at the same time. Oh, and lost when in New Jersey, of course.

Currently, life has led me to a small hamlet south of Atlanta. The one great privilege I enjoy in life is the ability to freely chose where I live. For now, I am very, very happy to have found a new home with a somewhat unfamiliar way of life that I can explore.

Life is good and travel opportunities abound. Consequently, I find myself in foreign lands almost as often as I am home. In recent years, photography has taken somewhat of a less prominent role in life - but I still take my camera(s) wherever I go.

I hope you enjoy some of the photos I have posted.

Thank you for your interest in my images and for your comments, suggestions, and invites. I truly appreciate them and they are what makes flickr such an enjoyable experience.

I greatly appreciate being added as your contact as well. Please do not be offended if I do not reciprocate right away. Like many others on flickr, I receive a large volume of flickr mail and it can be difficult to catch up in light of life's other demands. Similarly, it may be impossible for me to visit all photostreams all the time. I will get to them eventually, please be patient.

You can write to me in English, German, and Spanish. I can usually manage several other languages as well (mostly in the Germanic and Romance language families) but I will be unable to respond in kind - or at least it will be rather poorly written.

English is my primary language, though, and it is easiest for me to communicate that way. My German is fair but may sound a little odd at times . I do okay with Spanish but speaking is much easier for me than writing.

Please do not send me any mass emails urging me to look at your latest photo in order to boost your views or comments count. If you truly want advice or my opinion, I will be more than happy to help you out.

Sea-deep cobalt blues, fiery hot reds, beach-bright yellows, Manuel uses colour to vividly paint the places and moments he encounters. Many people here on Flicker are poor photographers. Fewer, but still many are fine photographers. Few, though are artists, and a small fraction of these are masters. Manuel is a master; a master of colour and mood, ever changing to try new techniques, evoking the eye and the mind to come with him on his journey, painting on the monitor things that would be wonderful to see, but which Manuel makes wonderous through his HDR work and processing techniques. Manuel isn’t just about the image, though. He always wraps around his pieces text explaining his own experience of the place where he was, the things he saw, smelt, and touched. He paints not only images digitally, but also in the mind, sharing the experience of traveling to the place where he captured his material. And just as Manuel tries to share the things he sees, he is also a wonderfully generous Flickrite. He was one of the first people I befriended here on Flickr. He’s patiently explained HDR work to me, and always made a point of coming to comment on my stream and offer critical advice and feedback which I’ve found invaluable. His art is ever evolving, and his warmth of spirit is a gift, and a rare thing here on Flickr, or indeed anywhere. I’m lucky enough to count Manuel as a good friend. If you’ve been lucky enough to find Manuel, then I strongly urge you to go on his journey with him as he travels the world. Where else would you see a meat vendor whose stall glows with purple and pink signage? A Triple-A sign picked out in metallic blues and a sunburst? Zoltar in technicolour? The electric mauve of a sun setting over a Miami burning in neon? And do you really want to miss out on seeing that? I don’t.

He is a very friendly contact for me, too - he has always the time for a short talk by flickr mail ;-) His history is really intresting, thus he's a German exploring the world. I wish you always good light! Klaus

He is a master of capturing the beauty of things that many people would walk right past because they don't have the "eyes" to see the world the way that Manuel does. Do yourself a favour and go get a coffee, a beer or whatever you like to relax. Sit back and browse through Manuel's world. You will not be sorry! Keep up the outstanding work Manuel!!
