I started this Flickr account in 2006, mostly for my friends and family to share some of my experiences, adventures, misadventures, and discoveries during my year studying in Grenoble, France.

Keeping this website has rejuvinated my love for the art of photographic composition, and the wonder of capturing a moment, an expression, or an emotion in a medium that can mean so many different things to different people.

Many of the early photos on my site were shot with an old Fujifilm F440 4.1 megapixel camera. Being small, it went with me practically everywhere, but the quality is not the best. I eventually dug out my old Nikon F80 film camera, and you will find many shots with that camera on the site.

I am now shooting with a fantastic Nikon D200, and am borrowing a Nikon Coolpix for fast-and-light adventures. With an upgraded system (including replacing my 2001 IBM laptop which had a miniature 30gb harddrive and no RAM), I am super psyched on getting more photos of the places I love and the things I love doing.

As a mountain guide and (former?) student of ecology, you will see a clear bias in my photos for the mountains and their natural beauty. Living in the French Alps showed me the wonders of the alpine environment, and until I can return there for another extended amount of time, I will be exploring the many wonders of California's Eastern Sierra, the West, and as much of North America as my old truck will permit.
