Melissa de Carteret is a freelance food and travel writer and editor based in London. She has an MA in English from Cambridge University and over 15 years writing and editorial experience, contributing to publications such as the AA Hotel and Restaurant Guides, the AA Travel Guides and On: Yorkshire Magazine, and a host of food, travel and lifestyle websites such as Great British Life, JustLuxe, Upscale Living, Square Meal, Frommer's, Ultra.Travel and Travel+Leisure. Previously Co-editor of the AA Restaurant Guide, she focuses on luxury travel, regularly reviewing hotels, restaurants and spas in the UK and worldwide, as well as writing on other aspects of luxury lifestyle, including luxury brands, health and beauty, art and culture, fashion, style and design, and antiques and collectables. She has an interest in food history and kitchenalia, including the history of 19th century culinary moulds. Her book and magazine publishing experience includes editing literary fiction and childrens fiction and non-fiction for Jonathan Cape Books at Random House, Dorling Kindersley, and editing and contributing to b2b magazines and journals as Regional and Managing Editor for the United Nations affiliated Asia-Pacific Telecommunity in Singapore. In her spare time she is studying for a BSc in Psychology.
