Sydney Australia is home to photographer Ed Hughes. A stunning collection of images result from his passion for photography. Water and Moonlight are common themes in his breathtaking pictures.

Unique to Ed are images called lunagraphs™ - photographs exposed at night using moonlight. These rare and beautiful images are created using long time-exposures lasting minutes or hours.

A lunagraph adds the element of time. Movement is recorded like brush-strokes of light, while solid objects remain still.

Ed uses film for his photographs and lunagraphs. Bold colours and strong composition are his hallmark. These archival photographic prints will last a lifetime.

Images are reproduced without digital manipulation. The amazing colours result from traditional photographic processes including long exposures, time of day, night photography, unusual light sources, choice of film, double exposure, cross processing and reverse printing.

Ed's interest in photography began years ago, but he initially chose a career as a jazz drummer, winning five star reviews for his original album Ed Street, and touring Australia with the Ed Hughes Quintet.

Since buying a camera in 1998 Ed has shot countless rolls of film and read widely in his quest for knowledge about the photographic process.

His photographs are highly sought after with limited editions selling rapidly.

Exhibitions include the Museum of Sydney, Perth Photomedia Awards and Matilda Art Gallery. Ed's work hangs in private exhibitions around the world.

"My photography is about capturing the magic and essence of places I love."
