Hi, I’m Michael W (Mike) Potter, a nature photographer based in Alberta, Canada, who specializes in birds — particularly their behaviour. My website is michaelwpotter.ca

Six of my bird photographs were selected for three different Audubon 2025 calendars...please see this album for them www.flickr.com/photos/luminouscompositions/albums/7217772...

A selection of my images is available for stock photography, represented by Grandmaison Photo Agency. www.grandmaisonphotography.com Please see this album here on Flickr www.flickr.com/photos/luminouscompositions/albums/7217772... for some of these images.

About 30 of my bird images [among others including mammals and wildflowers] are available through the Adobe Stock photo agency stock.adobe.com/ca/contributor/210739152/michael-w-potter...

For interest, my cover photo is of a Violaceous Euphonia on the island of Trinidad:

My profile image is of a Baltimore Oriole in Alberta, Canada:

I’m a former Parks Canada interpreter (naturalist) who worked in Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, and mainly Alberta. Also the author and photographer of eight books on the Canadian Rockies, mostly on hiking and natural history (under my publishing imprint Luminous Compositions established in 1990). Please see this Flickr site about my books www.flickr.com/people/192473625@N08/

I’ve done numerous public presentations with photos to promote my books and for other events. As an example, I’ve been part of the Speaker Series at Lake O’Hara in Yoho National Park for some 20 years, where one of my topics is birds of the area.

I’ve been a keen birdwatcher since 1983, and have observed over 2,800 species on six continents {not Antarctica, at least yet…}. In addition, I have volunteered on bird banding projects in quite a few locations in Canada and in Belize, taken part on many Christmas Bird Counts, and support Birds Canada including through donating images for their use.
